About Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport

Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CSIA),　the biggest airport under the jurisdiction of Sichuan Province Airport Group(SPAG), is located in southwest of Chengdu, only 16 kilometers away from city center; It is the west gateway of China and an important window of Sichuan province.  CSIA has one runway(3600m×45m) and one taxiway(3600m×36m), about 668,000㎡ apron and a total of  92 aircrafts position. Its advanced facilities could be used to take off and touch down for various plane models, including Boeing 747-400. Moreover, CSIA is meeting the 4E standards required by international Civil Aviation Organization and is incorporated with Category Ⅱ Precision Approach Instrument System .

The passenger terminal of CSIA covers about 138,000 ㎡, which is composed of two buildings, the domestic part covers 82,000㎡,with 46 check-in desks,13 security check gates,18 aerobridges , 7 baggage conveyors , the feeder part of the passenger terminal which covers 17,000㎡,the international part of the passenger terminal which covers 39,000 ㎡ ,has a handling capacity of 3.7 million passengers per annum,and 10 aircraft gates,18 check-in desks,7 security check passages,8 aerobridges, including 2 with double-passages  and 2 that can berth aircraft code E .

In February 2007,the new cargo terminal (CTL) was put into operation, which is the biggest cargo terminal in west china. It covers 106,662.2 square meters of land, with the total floor area of 51,200 square meters including international part of 12000 square meters with an annual capacity of 30,000 tons, domestic part of 36000 square meters with an annual capacity of 350,000 tons, waiting area of 3000 square meters and other parts like special handling parts which can handle dangerous, valuable and fresh goods.

CSIA, the home base of Air China Southwest, Sichuan Airlines and United Eagle Airlines, is serving for 29 airlines with 10 foreign airlines such as KLM, Thai Airways, Air Asia, etc. It provides ground services for 16 other domestic airlines, e.g. South Airlines Group, Hainan Airlines Group, Xiamen Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, East Airlines and so on. Currently it is connecting with 70 domestic destinations, 24 international destinations with 7 direct flights to Amsterdam, Phnom Penh, Singapore, Seoul, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Macao.

In 2006, the total aircraft movements of CSIA are 156,000 times, passenger turnover 16.28 million, and cargo turnover295, 000 tones which made CSIA ranked 6th among the china airports, 5th among the china cities. The international annual cargo turnover in Chengdu reached 1,6000 tones, international aircraft movements 10,300 times and international passenger turnover 1.14 million.

To meet the future development, the 2ed Runway and Terminal 2 are ready planned and designed, with the construction investment of RMB 12.7 billion, After the project completed, the flying area will be of 4F grade, Terminal 2 covers an area of 34 thousand m2, caters to 35 million passengers Annually.

At the same time, CSIA is attaching importance to enhance its level of administration, over several year’s development and accumulation, the airport has established a scientific management system, which include quality control, safe management, budget management, audit management, etc. In 1998, CSIA passed ISO9002 Quality Control System. With “safety first” as the guidance, CSIA keeps improving safety assurance level, In march this year, the airport passed the aviation safety audit which organized by CAAC. Additionally, CSIA has established budget management system and Internal Auditing evaluation system to settle solid base for pursuing fine management in the airport.

CSIA is endeavoring great efforts for enhancing service quality and reforming service flow to strengthen cooperation between the airport and home carriers and to upgrade the network of domestic routes, simultaneously, Sichuan Province Airport Group (SPAG) will develop branch air routs to build up a branch network pivoting on CSIA. In virtue of geography situation, we will vigorously carry out marketing strategy; specially explore international routes to Europe, South Asia, the Middle East and Southeast Asia to build up a network that integrates international, region and branch air routes. All of these will expand and strengthen our airport; we are striving for making CSIA become the 4th largest air hub in China, in 2015!
