Chengdu , lies at the southwest of China, is the captain of Sichuan province , it is the Melting Pot of ancient and modern civilization and is named as “ land of abundance” . Chengdu is regarded as hometown for giant pandas and has Dujiangyan Irrigation System. As a synthetically open city, Chengdu is more than the trade, finance, technology center; it is also a transport and telecommunication hub.

Chengdu covers an area of 12390 square kilometers with 110.3 million population .It spans 192 kilometers long from east to west, 166 kilometers from south to north including 9 districts, 4 county-level cities and 9 counties.
Chengdu has been around since 2500 some yeas ago, was named as the national historical city by state council. During the Han Dynasty, Chengdu’s Brocade industry was very famous, and later during the “Five Generation” Dynasty, an emperor ruled to grow a specific kind of rose (Lotus) in this city. Therefore, Chengdu is also known as “Brocade City” or “Rose City”. Chengdu is the famous tourist destination with many historical sites, among which some are highly known around the world, the most representative historical sites include Dufu Thatched Cottage, Wuhou Temple, The Royal Tomb of Wang Jian, and The Jinsha Site. Many scenic spots were named as “world-class tourism sites” by U.N., e.g. Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Qingcheng Mountain, Giant Buddha of Leshan, Emei Mountain, Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong and Habitat of giant panda. Chengdu is a beautiful city, enjoys amiable climate, UN granted Chengdu with “Habitat Scroll of Honor Award” and “Best Practice to Improve the Living Environment”. February 8th, 2007, Chengdu was named "China's best tourist city" by the National Tourism Administration and the United Nations World Tourism Organization.
Chengdu is the economic center in western china, the GDP in 2006 reached 275 billion Yuan, per capita GDP achieved 3213 dollar, its import & export volume reached 6.9 billion dollar. Chengdu is also the financial center in west of china with 27 financial institutions, 29 insurance companies and 43 stockjobbers. In the near future, Chengdu will become a new financial center in china. With great number of scientists and specialists, Chengdu is the most important scientific research base in the west of china. There are more than 20 Higher Learning Institutes, 120 independent research institutes and 2500 scientific research entities. More than 500,000 intellectuals are professional in electron, biology, new material, photics, Nuclear Techniques, laser optics, etc.
Chengdu is the transport hub for railway, high way and air transport .As the fifth biggest airport, Shuangliu international airport is not only the main gateway to Tibet, but also a new rising air hub to connect the middle and west of china with European and south east Asian.
